Walkthrough – The Light Issue 3

By: David Pinckney

After the shocking ending of issue 2 the wait to see what happens in issue 3 felt too long. With it finally on store shelves we can dig straight into the meat of the comic with this third installment of the walkthrough.

Here is - Walkthrough for Issue 2, Walkthrough for Issue 1

Main Characters:

We have the two obvious ones, Avery and Coyle who we have established a pretty set idea on their personalities from the previous two issues.Light comic

Simon and Johnny: These two brothers were introduced into the story back at the tail end of issue 2 only to reveal their names this issue. Though they are in the entire issue we only catch a slim glimpse of their true character. We do get a sense that they have a strong desire for survival in the sense that whether they want to or not, they won't hesitate to shoot and kill if it means their safety as well as safety for others.

Plot:

Going to Portland. That is the main plot of the comic. Avery had been more then adamant about finding her mother in Portland and now she finally gets her wish to go. Coyle has been grossly opposed to the idea of going to Portland as it is a major city with lights just about everywhere. After much debate they decide to go. They have no idea how far the virus has spread or what lies before them.

On the way to Portland they find people who are infected but haven't flat out died yet, the were “Dying more slowly”. This adds a new aspect to the entire series. What this means for the series currently is unknown but we can expect that to play some role in the final two issues.

Main Events [NOT spoiler free]:

Brothers who kill:

Simon and Johnny were the two that killed the nameless woman of issue 2. This is the first true experience with them and where we learn that they most defiantly abide be they idea of “survival of the fittest”.

Dying more slowly:

I mentioned in the spoiler free section that some are “dying more slowly”. What I didn't say was that they do seem to have some form of consciousness. They seem to be aware. And even though they are going to die, it seems like both Simon and Johnny have no intention of being touched by these guys saying (in response to a question from Coyle) “If it Glows, shoot it, we say. We know that they will infect others”. This makes the threat of the virus even more dangerous.

Crows are dying:

The idea up until the end of this issue was that humans were the only ones that can be infected, or at least that's how I took it. With the addition of animals getting infected, coupled with the idea of dying more slowly AND the ability to spread the infection could only spell trouble for everyone because the virus can spread more freely now.

Let's just get ready for something big to come. We can only assume that things are going to get much worse for these characters and the morbid part of me just can't wait.
