Back Issue Bin - Curse of the Blood Clan
THE HOWLING: Curse of The Blood Clan was to be published in 2005 by Dead Dog Entertainment. The now defunct publisher claimed to have the go-ahead from the rights holders to re-imagine the series using the Howling license, which included the name "Quist".
It was clear early on that the comic was headed in the right direction as it was announced that Mark Kidwell would be the creator on the book. Shortly there after, preview art appeared on ComicMonsters.com and the countdown to the release date appeared.
Just prior to going to press with the book, Dead Dog Entertainment was asked to remove the Howling name from the book along with any direct mention of the name "Quist". The book was subsequently released as "Curse of the Blood Clan".
The three issue series is described as: Runaways are disappearing in record numbers from the night-lit streets of New York City. One such casualty is Sara Bale. Retired Sheriff "Bull" Bale recruits his adopted son, bail bondsman "Jax" Bale, along with his tabloid reporter girlfriend, to learn the truth of Sara's disappearance; a grim truth hidden in the flickering grain of a violent snuff video tape. In the static shadows, Jackson Bale will uncover the existence of an ancient clan of mythic evil. He will risk everything he loves... He will witness the impossible... and when the screaming begins... he will believe!
The series has a distinct flavor that lends itself to the original film and draws directly from "The Howling's" "Eddie" in its blending of the lycanthrope mythos and hardcore snuff porn. Even the fur bikini likeness of Marsha Quist remained evident on the cover of issue three.
Werewolf fans be sure to seek this one out and add it to your collection!
