Whenever innocent blood is spilled upon the sand of the Old West, a foul wind blows in across the frontier! Fear not! For that fould stench belongs to Zeke Deadwood: Zombie Lawman! Created, drawn, and co-written by award-nominated artist Thomas Boatwright with Ryan Rubio (creators of Cemetery Blues) comes a classic western tale of Saturday matinee action with a healthy dose of B-movie horror.
We spoke with co-creator, Thomas Boatwright about the comic.
The Big Bad Wolf: Can you give our readers a synopsis of Zeke Deadwood: Zombie Lawman?
Thomas Boatwright: Its a classic story of bandits riding into a town and causing mayhem. The
townsfolk are of course helpless to stop them. Only a lone rider from out of
the west can save them. This time its an undead lawman called Zeke Deadwood.
The Big Bad Wolf: How did Zeke rise from the grave?
Thomas Boatwright:
Not really sure myself. I've got a few theories, but I'm waiting for him to
tell me.
The Big Bad Wolf: Can you talk a bit about the outlaws that Zeke will face in this book?
Thomas Boatwright:
They're an average batch of western outlaws in that they live to drink, rob,
and womanize. Their leader if a large man called Bloody Bill Rojas.
The Big Bad Wolf: What can we expect from this book in terms of blood and gore?
Thomas Boatwright:
Mostly implied. Its mostly based around the idea that Zeke is an old radio
show. Nothing worse than anything in an old EC comic.
The Big Bad Wolf: Is this an ongoing, or mini series?
Thomas Boatwright:
Right now its just this one shot. But the response has been amazing. I'm
working on a couple more one shots.
The Big Bad Wolf: When is the release date and how much does the book cost?
Thomas Boatwright:
Its 3.50 and should be out the end of July.
The Big Bad Wolf: Who’s the rest of the
creative team on the book?
Thomas Boatwright:
My co-writer on Cemetery Blues, Ryan Rubio helped co-write it.
The Big Bad Wolf: Where can our readers find out more about Zeke Deadwood: Zombie Lawman?
Thomas Boatwright:
SLG Publishing's website should have all the info you need.
.
The Big Bad Wolf: In closing, what would you like to say to our readers about Zeke Deadwood:
Zombie Lawman?
Thomas Boatwright:
Zeke is one of my favorite things to draw and Ive been sketching him for
years. I'm happy to finally have this one shot published through such a
great company like SLG.
The Big Bad Wolf: Thank you for your time,
Thomas! Best of luck with this title!
