Hell’s Blood is the story of the insane and unexpected series of events that occurred when the lead character in the book, Hector loses his grandmother and his life all in one night. Relentlessly pursued by horrific monsters seen only in nightmares and movies, he finds himself fighting for his very life against an army of hell-spawned creatures led by a magma spitting, fire haired werewolf who threatens to bring man's darkest fear back to reality.... Olosi(Satan) himself! Now guided by a mysterious duo who claims he carries a powerful opal created before man's existence and with everything around him changing, he struggles to survive as his own body takes on dramatic changes of its own. His small hometown of Holyoke has become the battle field between heaven and hell as Hector becomes man's last hope for salvation. Where the first leads, the rest will follow.
We caught up with creator, Hector Rodriguez to talk about whats new with Hell's Blood.
Horror News Network: For those that may have never picked up an issue of this title, can you catch us up to date on the current storyline?
Hector Rodriguez: The story revolves around a teen named Hector "named after my son not after me" who has a fire opal passed on to him. The stone grants him immense power but because he refuses to believe in the Santeria religion it changes his body when in use.
Horror News Network: Tell us about the main character Hector and how he turns into Meltdown. Also, can we have more info on Meltdown? (His back story, his powers, weapons, etc.)
Hector Rodriguez: He's a regular teen like any other until the night in the park. He doesn't want any part of Meltdown even if that means really cool powers. At the moment he can shape shift his arms into weapons and conduct electricity but as he matures and learns to control his powers there will be other nifty little tricks that he will discover.
Horror News Network: Tell us about the fire haired werewolf, Burucu-Aja. (His back story, his powers, weapons, etc.)
Hector Rodriguez: Back story I can't tell you too much because we don't want to spoil the book for those who have yet to read it. What I can tell you is that he is really a very powerful demon. He's immune to fire and magic and controls all demons within Earth's realm. He's a master swordsman and technically will never die. To kill him only means you send him back to hell until he can find a means to return which requires a host.
Horror News Network: Same question for the other characters in the story like Zandra, Ota-Ode and Corico. (His back story, his powers, weapons, etc.)
Hector Rodriguez: Ota is the wise shaman, his opal gives him immense knowledge and he's quite skilled in combat. He trained Zandra when she acquired her opal.
Zandra is the legendary warrior, all demons fear this one and with the exception of Burucu none will go head to head with her unless the odds are strongly in their favor. Short tempered but excellent in all modes of combat.
Corico is Burucu's right hand or if you rather his servant. Not very intelligent but quite difficult to kill, he loves to kill and will consume anything, including human flesh and bone.
Horror News Network: Where do you see this series going in terms of horror over the next few issues?
Hector Rodriguez: Actually we are about to close out the first run but there are so many possibilities at the moment. We're getting request for origins and spin offs which we were planning on anyway and our writer Chris Buchner already has an insane amount of stories written already. I just wish I could draw as fast as he writes. We have plenty of material to run with for some time so hopefully people will keep asking for HB.
Horror News Network: At this point, have you been approached to move Hell’s Blood into any different types of mediums besides comic books?
Hector Rodriguez: Not yet, but our goal is just to make good quality books and have fun doing it because that's what we love. Any other mediums will be nothing more than blessings and icing on the cake.
Horror News Network: Where can our readers keep up to date on all things Hell’s Blood?
Hector Rodriguez: Just go to www.gwpbooks.com you'll find all you need there including a store link.
Horror News Network: In closing, what would you like to say to our readers about Hell’s Blood?
Hector Rodriguez: Check us out, I think you'll like it, this first run in just the tip of the iceberg! There are many more characters coming into the melee of this chaotic story.

Horror News Network: Thanks for your time, Hector. Best of luck with Hell’s Blood! Comment on this interview on our forum.
