Sally the Ghost Hunter Interview with Tomte and Vanja

"Sally The Ghost Hunter" is a comic series that deals with Sally; a young girl that lives in an old house in the middle of some abandoned farmlands, far away from most people.

She lives there together with her cute cat, Mee, and a mysterious masked man who rarely talks. Her whole  life revolves around hunting down ghosts, and in each episode she'll meet different people that seeks her help to get rid of the haunting.

But why is Sally so determined to hunt down ghosts...? And who is that mysterious masked man? The story of Sally will reveal itself throughout the series!

We caught up with the creators of this series, Tomte and Vanja to talk about this exciting new web comic.
Horror News Network: How did you come up with the concept for Sally the Ghost Hunter?
Tomte & Vanja: We both love horror movies and comics, and we've always wanted to create a comic series in this genre. Previously, we've had our work printed in several Norwegian comic anthologies, also including some self-published titles.
Tomte has also been published in the Australian horror magazine "Decay". However, as our home country Norway once used to have many opportunities for comic artists, with several anthologies and publications, it's now reduced to having a large portion of it on life support by financial assistance from the Arts Council in Norway. The number of comic publications has dropped severely over the years. One of the largest comic publishing firms here in Norway recently tried their luck with a horror anthology that included comics like "Freaks of the Heartland" and "Living with the dead". Unfortunately, this anthology didn't last for more than three issues. We guess that speaks volumes about how the comic market here is today...there's few publishers left that wants to take their chances on new things, and quite understandably so.
Still, with the internet and its wide range of possibilities, we knew that digital distribution and being able to reach out to people all over the world would be the way to go. We had a somewhat long brain-storming to find out what kind of comic series we wanted to create, and what characters should be included. And on one cold and windy evening in the fall of 2011, the first sketch featuring Sally was created.
Horror News Network: Can you tell us a bit about the main character, Sally?
Tomte & Vanja: Sally is the protagonist of the comic series. She's a gloomy gothic girl that is hunting ghosts, and obviously isn't too fond of what she's doing. She lives in an old house in the middle of some abandoned farmlands, together with her black cat Mee and a mysterious masked man. While each story in "Sally The Ghost Hunter" deals with different people who experience trouble with ghosts and seeks Sally's help to get rid of them, the reader finds out gradually about Sally's background-story throughout the issues.
Horror News Network: How often is the web-comic updated?
Tomte & Vanja: We try to have 2 or 3 full issues released each year. Readers always gets some page previews and concept art during the progress, just to let them know we're still alive and working on the project.
Horror News Network: Where can our readers find out more about Sally the Ghost Hunter?
Tomte & Vanja: On! We keep the site updated with new pages and concept art regularily.
Horror News Network: In closing, what would you like to say to our readers about Sally the Ghost Hunter?
Tomte & Vanja: While the series is still rather new, we hope people like it so far and will enjoy the current and upcoming issues of "Sally The Ghost Hunter".
