Blackout first appeared as an assassin for the costumed villain, Deathwatch. In battle with Ghost Rider, Blackout was mutated due to exposure of the bio-toxin along with Ghost Rider's "hellfire." Deformed but more powerful than ever, Blackout fled, swearing vengeance.
Blackout later killed Dan Ketch's sister.
Blackout later joined with the Lilin to battle the Midnight Sons.
