Don Maggert was an astronaut who was attacked by some type of aliensubstance aboard the space shuttle. The shuttle crashed into the ocean and Maggert was feared dead. Shortly after, Maggert was turned into some kind of monster and grew to enormous heights. The Giant monster proceeded to wreak havoc upon cities.
