Feeling snubbed by the scientific community, Professor Heinreich decides to build a giant plastic man. However, it does not work as intended and the Professor dumps it into a swamp, where it reacts to the quicksand around it, and comes to life. He sends the monster to kill a rival, but the creature does not. Frustrated, the scientist confronts the monster, but falls to his death. The monster tries to explain that he is not flawed and evil like his creator and wishes to be human. Just then a lightning bolt strikes it and transfers its essence to the body of Heinreich.
