“From independent publisher Studio Z comes the debut comic book
about A female zombie warrior and her unique special forces unit whose
mission is to protect the world from all manner of demon, devil and
monster that threaten humanity. In 300 BC, venerable Lao Tzu, the father
of Taoism, looked upon the evil ravaging China and set about finding
ancient warrior spirits who would defend humanity and prevent the future
zombie apocalypse as foretold in the ancient epic of Gilgamesh. These
spirits, his Tigers, would be contained in human hosts. And to lead
them, a fifth tiger, the center that commands the others, he selected a
special kind of immortal being, a female zombie. If a Tiger is killed,
the spirit seeks out a suitable replacement and is then drawn to Z-Girl
through the sacred tattoos that bond the team to her. Z-Girl uses an
ancient regenerative myst to repair herself as well as keep her more
base instincts and hungers in check. Centuries after their creation,
Z-Girl and the 4 Tigers continue to fulfill the prophecies of Lao Tzu,
and currently operate as agents of the secretive Department of Irregular
Warfare. Outfitted with the latest in high-tech weaponry and capable of
engaging threats anywhere on the planet, Z-Girl and the Four Tigers are
often called upon to be the last line of defense against unthinkable
and unimaginable evils.”

Oh, that was nice, what a great looking book. Right off the bat I loved
the distinction between that history recaps and the more modern stuff,
except it wasn’t like that on the final story. However it didn’t matter
too much, because overall this looked great from start to finish. A
great looking cover leads you into some nice black and white interior
pages. The character designs are fun and done with great detail from
page to page. Then you are treated to a great pin-up gallery. Overall, a
winner.
Story: 4.5 out of 5
I wouldn’t list this as a typical anthology. Instead it’s more of a
great introduction into this world told through some shorts. Well I
guess that’s an anthology then huh? It don’t matter I loved it from
start to finish. A fun idea that is done exceedingly well. Great
dialogue is just the starting point as the adventures progress you just
get more sucked into this world. A great read.

Great art ✔. Great story ✔. What! Two check marks? Well I guess this one
set out to accomplish something and succeeded! I loved it from start to
finish. It was a strong solid read, but now I wonder when I will get
number 1 and that makes me a sad head. So hurry it up over there,
because I got a craving for more Z-Girl!
