“The story itself is about Noel; a young vampire who is pledged
to wed her stepbrother, she makes the decision to run away from the only
life she knows and try to make a new life as a normal human teen-aged
girl; Noel will not be alone in her journey she is joined by her zombie
Shaman and Guardian Marak.”
Artwork: 4.0 out of 5
When it came to the artwork it had a nice modern manga feel to it. I
enjoyed the character designs, but the big winner for me was the use of
the color red. It’s not the first time I have seen it done, a black
white and red comic book, but it really works well here. Hey why
wouldn’t it when you are dealing with vampires after all.
Story: 3.0 out of 5
The story in this issue was good, but I think it has a little ways to
go. There were times when I felt that the dialogue could have used a
little less on the obvious and maybe used some less cheesy wording.
However the overall concept I like. I think that this issues sets out to
cover its main plot points and does it in great fashion. You get a good
sense of the main cast and what is the basic premise of the book. So
while one side of equation is a little overdone, overall you get a good
read.
Dying Breath: 3.5 out of 5
Thriller is a comic I think I could easily pick up again. This issue
does what a number 1 should, it gives a little back story while leaving
me, the reader, wanting to find out more. The preview for issue #2
didn’t hurt that at all either. I liked that artwork and found that it
was the stronger point of the issue. So a little touch up here and there
and I think this one is on the right path for being a good vampire
title.
