I am a sucker for monsters and everyone knows it. At the 2010 Comic Con I was lucky enough to stumble upon Z-Girl and the 4 Tigers. The story reminds me a bit of a mix between Hellboy and the video game, Clive Barker’s Jericho. I saw the creators once again at the 2011 show and picked up issue two.
The basic synopsis of Z-Girl is “A zombie with a conscience has spent centuries teamed up with four powerful spirits fulfilling the prophecies of the ancient Chinese philosopher, Lao-Tzu. Currently operating as a special forces team in the secretive Department of Irregular Warfare, Z-Girl and her Tigers wage war against the devils, demons and monsters that threaten humanity.”
Jeff Marsick scripts issues two’s tale which is described as “The events of the first issue set Z-Girl and the Tigers in search of the 13th tablet of Gilgamesh in Nineveh, Iraq, where they unearth something far more sinister than they were expecting. Back in Chicago, Valerie Tardiff begins learning the way of the Red Tiger spirit. Meanwhile, lurking in the shadows is a mysterious cabal whose own quest for world-domination has put them on a collision course with our heroes.”
The storyline is fluid and the art is good enough for me to look forward to the third issue of this book. If you like guns, monsters and adventure, this book may be right up your alley!
