"Somewhere
in Midwestern America was a place called Conover County. When the old
book was opened, and the runes therein used in haste and ignorance, a
place of farms, simple folk, and small-town dreams became a den of
monsters and nightmare. NORTH 40 is the story of those who survived and
came to confront an even greater evil on the horizon - one that
wouldn't just consume their flesh, but their souls as well. Heroes
arise with power to bring against the dark: Wyatt, an unwilling
protector of his former tormentors; Amanda, an apprentice to forgotten
arts; and Sheriff Morgan, whose bonds with Conover County go back
farther than even he can remember."
An amazing start to this 6 issue series. I was really looking
forward to what Williams was going to do and I was not disappointed
once while reading the issue. The story on top of the artwork make this
book one solid package that is worth every penny.
Artwork: 4.2 out of 5
The artwork is gorgeous from panel to panel. It flows so well with the
story and the "oddities" just shine on each character. The coloring is
great o most pages but some of it seems flat and that is my only gripe.
All around fantastic looking book, couldn't have asked for a better
artist here.
Story: 4.2 out of 5
The story shines here. It moves quickly building the action as it goes
so you just jump right into it. Sure it could have gone a little slower
in the beginning, but you know there is a lot to be covered coming up.
So why the event happened and what will come of it gets some good build
up here. I got a good sense of who's who and what they are all about,
so I would say good character description. Just thinking back makes me
excited to read #2.
Dying Breath: 4.2 out of 5
I have been really looking forward to this book since it was solicited.
It did not disappoint once, like most Wildstorm titles have recently. I
think if you want that new strange monster story this is one worth all
299 pennies. I can't wait to see what happens and I just hope it don't
fizzle out like some mini's can.
