Writer: Alan Robert
Artist: Alan Robert
Release Date: December 19th, 2012
Synopsis: The prison cell walls are closing in fast on our all-star cast, which features original characters based on the likenesses of Frank Vincent (Goodfellas, the Sopranos), Marky Ramone (The Ramones) and Brea Grant (Heroes, Dexter). The unlikely trio quickly discovers that they are no longer alone in the abandoned police station and Marky Ramone is forced to take matters into his own hands... and in his hands is his trusty baseball bat!
Our Thoughts: The first issue of “Killogy” really set up an interesting plot, and “Killogy #2” picks up right where the first one left off. We see three people, who live on the fringe of society, locked in a cell under siege by zombies. The ready doesn’t know the entire history of the characters, but can easily tell they all have blood on their hands. The intensity of distrust between the characters in the dire situation sets up a volatile scenario. This is a brilliant, as Roberts leave himself room to take the story in many different directions. Are any of them going to make it out of that cell alive? Who knows? I know I can’t wait to see if they do or don’t.
Story: In this issue, we see more of the back story of the Marky Ramone character. We see a streetwise hustler seemingly fighting for survival every day. I never like to give too much away, however, one of Roberts strengths is setting the scene. His attention to detail with the NY Italian slang to the clothing brings you in that scene.
Art: Speaking of setting the scene, the art style which Roberts uses complements the grittiness of the scenarios that are set up. Horror comic fans won’t be disappointed with the more gory and bloody pages.
“Killogy #2” pretty much develops these characters and how they got where they are. This is a series I would keep on your pre-order list. “Killogy #2” is out on December 19th.
