“Murdered by a monster on Halloween night, Solomon Hitch was
resurrected to fight back against the darkness as Halloween Man!
Superdeformed includes some of the best loved tales from the popular
webcomic. Includes art by Nicola Scott (Secret Six, Birds of Prey),
Benjamin Hall (Dead@17: Protectorate) and David Baldeón (Nomad: Girl
Without A World).
Halloween Man is a 21st Century Beauty and the Beast story that
brings together the most amazing aspects of horror, superheroes, and
science fiction. Meet Solomon Hitch, the Halloween Man himself – a
misunderstood monster with the power of the horror movie sequel, a
heart of gold, and a taste for living flesh – and his lady love Lucy
Chaplin, the world’s most glamorous mad scientist. With his friends by
his side, he just might smash evil, save the world – and maybe even
save his soul! “
Artwork: 4.0 out of 5
I really like the styles used in all of these stories. They all seem
very consistent with one another even though different artists were
used. The coloring really stand out though. The pages are nice and vibrant. This is an amazing looking little collection.
Story: 4.0 out of 5
I really enjoyed the progression of this book. It started of very raw
and just developed more and more page after page. It is nice and kinda
cool to read something where you can actually see Drew narrowing in on
his own style and voice. I like the concept too. It’s a cool idea to
take the classic monsters and give them a universe where they are
divided as heroes and villains. Then you also have the inner struggles
of Halloween Man as he decides where he belongs. Plus there is nice
dialogue between characters that is full of plot progression and humor.
Dying Breath: 4.0 out of 5
A good start and introduction to these characters. The artwork and
stories go hand in hand and really deliver here. Humor and gore
co-exist in this futuristic world of monsters and humans an I know I
want to read more. This is worth checking out.
