Hack/Slash vs. Chucky

Hack/Slash vs. Chucky

Publisher: Devil’s Due Publishing
Writer: Tim Seeley
Artist: Matt Merhoff

Chucky, the murderous doll, goes head to head with everyone’s favorite slasher hunters, Cassie Hack, and Vlad.

Cassie and Vlad track Laura Lochs, the crazy, fundamentalist Christian, to New Orleans in an attempt to finally bring her to justice.

Thanks to her crew of zombies, Laura gets the jump on Cassie and Vlad. Laura then pulls out a mystical voodoo amulet, and switches her body with Vlad’s.

Cassie then must team with what she hates most of all, a slasher, Chucky. The two team up and track down Papa Sugar, a friend of Laura’s who dabbles in voodoo.

In one of my favorite death scenes this year, Chucky takes a nail gun and fires dozens of shots into Papa Sugar, killing him.

At the end of the book, Cassie and Chucky face off in a bloody battle.

Tim Seeley does a great job writing Chucky, as he captures the characters feel perfectly, mixing comedy with mayhem.

I can only hope to see a second part to this book.

Overall: 4 out of 5
